Following a difficult year we are pleased to offer our lovely environment for parents/carers and toddlers to be outdoors.  Our sessions include a campfire with snack and run on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday morning and a Monday afternoon.

 

A wonderful outdoor environment where you can explore together, enjoy being in the fresh air, the sky is your ceiling, the grass your floor. Come and join us as we enjoy the great outdoors together.

What is Mini Explorers?

Mini Explorers is a great way to introduce children to Forest School activities. As well as a beautiful woodland to explore and crafts to create, each session includes cooking a tasty treat on the campfire, whittling a stick, messy play in the mud kitchen or just enjoying quality time making new friends and chilling in our natural surroundings.

A typical session includes:

  • Forest School ranger directed activity

  • Hunting for mini beasts

  • Safety rules through fun games

  • Tasty treats toasted on the campfire 

  • Tasty treats in the mud kitchen!

  • Treasure hunts

  • Whittling

Mini Explorers FAQ's

Ages


Mini Explorers is a group for adults with little ones! There are activities for toddlers and pre-schoolers that are inquisitive and just love being outdoors, there is space for parents who just enjoy meeting others with their babies to enjoy the serenity of the woods. There is no age limit really, this group is for you and your little explorer!




Fees


A 2 hour morning Mini Explorers session is £10.00 a week ( based on 1 child and 1 adult) Additional siblings over 12 months are £2.50 per session. To secure your place you need to book for 6 weeks and pay in advance (we don't offer a drop in and pay service) to request a place please fill in our registration form by following the link above.




Session information


Mini Explorers takes place at our woodland site in Toothill, just outside Romsey and session times are as follows: Monday 10.00am -12.00pm Wednesday 10.00am - 12.00pm Friday 10.00am - 12.00pm. Our group sizes are not too big and offer a wonderful opportunity for parents and carers to relax around the campfire in our lovely meadow and woodland environment, to make new friends while your little ones enjoy hands on experiences exploring their senses. We will be learning about the environment hunting for bugs, arts and crafts with natural materials. There is a mud kitchen for imagination and always a toasty treat on the campfire. A child initiated environment where parents/carers and children can explore together. Good for the mind, good for the soul!




Clothing and kit


Children need to wear appropriate clothing, sturdy shoes or wellies (depending on the weather) and bring waterproofs. Please note: long trousers, long-sleeved tops and closed shoes are essential protection against stinging nettles, rough wood and ticks.




Food


Please bring a water bottle for your child, we will be cooking a tasty snack over the campfire during the session but if your child is used to eating certain foods or has allergies please let Sam know beforehand. Soap and water and antibacterial gel are used for hand washing before eating.
